BFF I & BFF II

Based on the composition of “CHOCOLATE MOUSSE”, these two pieces: “B.F.F. I" & “B.F.F. II” (Best Friends Forever) are personalized for 2 best friends. They met at work (in Toronto) over 20 years ago and it was an instant connection. They thought it would be unique and meaningful to immortalize and symbolize their friendship through SAMSON art. Both pieces are very different but have common points of reference like a Fleur De Lys (they were both born in Quebec), fabric, map of Montreal, country colours from Austria, Italy and the Dominican Republic representing the origin of certain family members. Background and…

Tarte Au Sucre

“Tarte Au Sucre” – 40” X 30” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas. Background: Saint-Mathieu’s « Tarte Au Sucre» recipe, articles of Montreal’s newspapers, map of Montreal’s metro, image of knife / fork for our gourmet, etc.

Frontenac And His Sunfish

“Frontenac Et Ses Crapets Soleil” (Frontenac And His Sunfish) – 40” X 30” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas. A scene of the 70’s-80’s that represents my vivid childhood recollections at the SAMSON’s cottage by the “Petit Lac Magog”.  “Les Pieds Pendant Au Bout Du Quai” – A popular folk song of « Beau-Dommage » - we could appreciate the stunning multicolour fish that no one would want to catch; The Sunfish.  Nope, they’re not edible but how pretty to watch swimming.  Nevertheless, I enjoyed them. Background: Image of Sunfish, image of the popular Quebec City Hotel: Le Chateau Frontenac, image…

L’Italien à Montréal

“L’Italien à Montréal” – 28” X 20” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas. Considering the colours of the Italian emblem, green, red and white are predominant in this piece. As most of major cities, Montreal ensures also its little Italy. A district close to The Jean-Talon market that makes you “travel” without having to fly for 6 hours. A ‘hood where you can savour the best pasta, pizza and shots of espresso. You can catch a colourful melting pot of Quebecois, English and Italian dialects. Truly, don’t be stunned if you pick up the three lingos in the…

“Purement PIG” – 48” X 30” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas.

“Purement PIG” – 48” X 30” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas. After creating my own versions of many owls (more to come) and a few moose, here I am with my first take on a PIG. According to Chinese astrology, the PIG’s main characteristics are honesty and strictness.  Also, PIGS greatly appreciate solitude, freedom and beauty.  Though, they repress intolerance, unfairness and hypocrisy.  That said, don’t we need a PIG in every home?  Background: Pictures and articles of Montreal newspapers, Montreal Metro Map, etc.  Textures: plaster, burlap sack and Diane Bunker’s fabric samples, New Brunswick, Canada

“SAVEUR” – 36” x 24” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas.

“SAVEUR” – 36” x 24” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas. This custom piece was painted for people who honor Life with a capital « L ». It now enhances the kitchen’s character. In fact, we can identify the label of a Châteauneuf du Pape, a recipe of a French Onion Soup au gratin (SAMSON’s favourite), a mouth, with which we taste and savour many delicious things. A bumble bee is set on the pear to represent the beehive found in the backyard. The rooster implies the French Emblem (Quebec being a French colony). Background: Diane Bunker’s fabric (New…
