Ah La Vache! (OMG)

Ah La Vache!!  - 48” X 48” - Acrylic and mixed media. After many owls, moose and other friendly animals, here I am with my first piece in the bovine department. I have to admit that I had great pleasure painting this muse.  This piece reminds me of my childhood growing up in the countryside and running in the fields close to home. Often, I ran through a herd of cows and had to accelerate the pace when a bull was chasing me.  Believe it or not, this funny scenario happened at almost every outing.  This could explain why I…

GISELE AVEC ROBE PIANO

“GISELE AVEC ROBE PIANO” (Gisele With Piano Dress) - 48” X 30” - Acrylic and mixed media. Gisele is back with more attitude than ever.  This character, that I love painting again and again, was created for Claude Vallee and Isabelle Mercier.  Here, with her hand, she motions “come over here” to welcome her guests to the music and entertainment room.  Knowing that our SAMSON owners love Billy Joel, we find, in her dress, the lyrics of the song “Piano Man” and the 5th Symphony of Beethoven, a timeless classic. In her right hand, there is an article from Paris, a…

BARISTA

“BARISTA” - 48” X 30” - Acrylic and mixed media. This piece was created for Claude through his wife Isabelle.  This character welcomes their guests in their beautiful home to enjoy a flavourful cup of espresso.  Claude loves great coffee! In his left ear, we find an image of a hipster BARISTA.  In his collar, a burlap coffee sack brought back from my last trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico.   We can also discover articles of “where to find the best coffee in the world” and the definition of BARISTA (meaning barman in Italian). Background: Burlap sack, newspaper articles, map of Montreal…

The BARISTA

“THE BARISTA”  - 48” X 36” – Acrylic and mixed media on canvas. Eyes wide open, your BARISTA is certainly not at his first dose of caffeine of the day. The word barista (in Italian) means barman.  In North America, the evolution of “Cafe Arte” has flourished in recent years. In Montreal, for example, third generation coffee houses have boomed the coffee industry and this new way of living.  We can find them in all neighbourhoods mostly in Mile-End, Le Plateau and Little Italy.  I invite you to search between brush strokes the definition and history of BARISTA in italian, maps…

The Wine Steward

“LE SOMMELIER” (Wine Steward) - 48” X 36” – Acrylic and mixed media on canvas. When I have the opportunity of listening to a SOMMELIER describing wines, I immediately embark on an adventure that makes me dream and travel. Hence, I give you the challenge to discover underneath the multiple layers of paint, maps of the regions of CHÂTEAUNEUF DU PAPE and certain parts of Italy as well as images of vines, wine cellars, corks, etc. You will also notice labels of renowned vineyards, an article (in french) of Montreal newspaper LA PRESSE “It’s the cork’s fault”, receipts of our…

FRIDA ET SON CHAT III

“FRIDA ET SON CHAT III” – 60” x 48” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas. My third version of “FRIDA ET SON CHAT”, although this time, background painted with all tons of turquoise, cyan and cerulean found in the oceans surrounding Mexico. Between multiple layers of paint, (flower petals), we can discover hand written love letters by Frida to Diego Rivera. On her neck and chest, a coffee burlap sack brought from my last trip to Mexico. Notes: Biography of Frida Kahlo in Spanish, Mexican flags, Mexican coffee burlap sack, writings (calligraphy) of Frida Kahlo, etc

SENPAI ET LA GAUCHÈRE

SENPAI – 28” X 20” -Acrylic and other material on canvas. SENPAI indicates a high level of skills in Japanese dialect. Here, our subject (a right-handed guy) reached the black belt in karate. Therefore he deserves a certain respect. Besides this outstanding distinction, he studied at the prestigious Montreal’s Ecole Polytechnique (Polytechnical School). He is also a decent golf player and, like LA GAUCHÈRE, he excels in volleyball. He met the latter in 2000 and they got married two years later. This year, they celebrate their fifteenth wedding anniversary and share their very eventful lives with three boys. Besides, their…

GAMINE

“GAMINE” – 28” x 20” – Acrylic and other material on canvas. This character was created for a keen admirer of dogs, man’s best friend. On the left side of his chest is a silhouette of Gamine (Teckel breed / pet). It is in her honour that I entitled this piece: “GAMINE” (French for young girl). Given that the owner of this piece resides on Le Plateau de Montreal (neighbourhood), we can find in the background, the majestic Jacques-Cartier Bridge (right eyebrow) and a map of Montreal (on branch). Through the feathers, we can also find a few names of…

Que Du Bonheur

“Que Du Bonheur” – 48” X 36” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas. What a great honour it was to paint Aline Denis-Lessard.   This lady symbolized and still echoes the appreciation of each unique and small moment.   It is for this reason that I entitled this painting “QUE DU BONHEUR” (Nothing But Happiness).   Communicating LOVE with her precious ones was her mission in life.   Her family was what she cherished the most in the entire world.  Other than her sons' Patrick (Brigitte) and Alain, her favourite son-in-law Sylvain, she treasured her grandchildren Alexandre and Maxime and her great grandchild Rafael. …

Frida Kahlo II

“FRIDA ET SON CHAT II” – 47” x 39” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas. Inspired by the original version “FRIDA ET SON CHAT, although this time with a wide scale of red tones from scarlet to crimson. The impact is equally explosive. Nevertheless FRIDA comes out with supremacy and confidence. Notes: Mexican newspaper articles, biography of Frida Kahlo in Spanish, Mexican flags, etc.
