HER MAJESTY

« HER MAJESTY » - 48” X 48” – Acrylic and mixed media on canvas. This commissioned piece definitely has an English feel. The bronze crowns symbolize British royalty. You can also find a map and logo of the London Tube (metro subway system), David Beckham’s # 7 Jersey (Manchester United), and London’s shared bicycle system. The owners of this work, being quite cosmopolitan, are characterized with many hints of their journeys. PARC BELMONT

“PARC BELMONT” – 48” X 36” - ACRYLIC AND MIXED MEDIA ON CANVAS. Having grown up in Sherbrooke, QC, I did not have the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of Le Parc Belmont. The only reference I had was the song (of the same title) of our iconic singer, Diane Dufresne (composer: Luc Plamondon, 1979). This piece symbolises the colourful horses of the famous Carrousel that revolved for six decades on the north-west side of Montreal. Unfortunately, the opening of another amusement park (“La Ronde”) and the raising of the city taxes forced the historic establishment to close its doors…

FLEURS & COLOMBE

“FLEURS & COLOMBE” – 36” X 30” – ACRYLIQUE ET TECHNIQUES MIXTES SUR TOILE. Last time I painted flowers, they were on Frida Kahlo’s head. I then said to myself, why not make it a piece itself? Although, I had to “Samsonize” the work by perching a dove above it all. Background: A letter from Jacques-Cartier to the King Francois I, articles celebrating Montreal 375th anniversary, map of the Eastern Townships (my roots), fabrics, etc.

Le Mariage

“LE MARIAGE” - 36” X 30” - Acrylic and mixed media on wood. This personalized commission was offered for dear friends as their wedding gift. It was for me, a great honour to paint this piece to commemorate this meaningful event. The bride wears a red dress that matches her hair and also reminds us of the cherry colour (her favourite fruit). On her heart side, we notice the IMAGE DE MARK’s logo, workplace where our lovebirds met. Two maple leaves illustrate the family “sugar shack” and also the life continuation of her mother and brother. The piece of fabric…
