GISELE XI

“GISELE XI” – 20” x 16” – Acrylic and Mixte Media on Canvas. This “pocket-sized” SAMSON is my latest creation.  This is the ninth version of a character that I adore painting again and again.  However, this time, she is more textured and her face is filled with small brush strokes of various pastel tones.  Each time, she fills me with joy; I hope she conveys the same emotion to you. Texture: Plaster

Dans Ma Roue

DANS MA ROUE - 30" X 30" This piece, entitled « DANS MA ROUE » (in my wheel), was offered as a wedding gift to a couple who is very fond of cycling. The expression “DANS MA ROUE” in French, means a cyclist following very closely another cyclist to enjoy a “drafting effect”. This maneuver requires full confidence between all people involved; a meaningful metaphor of a healthy relationship. Embedded within the layers of paint, you will find many items representing both personal and the couple relationship. Here they are: - Location where the couple met: Cycling tour in Majorca…

GISÈLE & SAMUEL

GISÈLE & SAMUEL : 24” X 18” – Acrylic and mixed media on wood. As promised, here’s latest piece in my GISÈLE collection. This time, she is painted in a smaller format. As I enjoy adding items of our heritage, she wears a red rose on which you can discern a rather refined handwriting dating back to the end of The Renaissance (early 1600’s). It belongs to the great explorer Samuel De Champlain. This historical letter to King Henri IV, preceded Champlain’s first sailing on The Saint-Lawrence River. Texture: Plaster and fabrics.

TOKYO

TOKYO : 72” X 72” - Acrylic and mixed media on canvas. This commissioned piece is the 4th version in my cow series.  Its composition is similar to its three cousins, however it stands out with its unique colour choices, designs, patterns and personalized items. Because of the owner’s strong ties to Japan, I have entitled this painting: TOKYO.  Notice it on the left ear. FRIDA KALHO’s life was very significant to this SAMSON collector.  For this reason, a love letter from FRIDA to her Diego is incorporated into the upper portion of the painting. The colours of Colombia are also of importance here.  Therefore,…

LA POUTINE

“LA POUTINE” – 40” X 30” – Acrylic and mixed media on canvas. As you know, I like to incorporate personal experiences and culture into my art work. For this piece, I’ve chosen one of Quebec’s best known delights: LA POUTINE. Embedded within the layers of paint, you will find tips and secrets on how to make the perfect Poutine, our Chef Ricardo’s delectable gravy recipe and of course, the very controversial origin of this little indulgence. Story says that it all started at RESTAURANT IDÉAL in Warwick, QC in the 1950’s. Bon appétit!! Background: Quebec’s chef Ricardo’s recipes, Montreal…
