La Mujer Fuerte

La Mujer Fuerte - 24" x 30" – Acrylic and mixed techniques on wood I present my smallest version of Frida to date. This strong woman (La mujer Fuerte) inspired Mexican women through her art and her life. She explored themes such as gender roles and female independence, remaining an enduring symbol of strength and personal expression.

Le Townshipper

Le Townshipper - 24" x 18" – Acrylic and mixed techniques on wood The sunfish has always been one of my favorite fish since childhood. I’ve always loved its golden-orange colours and shades of green. Between the layers of paint, you’ll find elements like a map of the Eastern Townships, an article from Vélo-mag magazine, some cows, a bicycle registration plate, the St-Hubert Rotisserie logo, and fabric from my mother-in-law used as texture.

No Ordinary Housewife

"NO ordinary housewife” - 30" x 36" - Acrylic and mixed techniques on wood I had immense joy creating this piece, filled with whimsical elements that make me smile. You’ll discover advertisements and comic strips from the 1940s, superheroes, and a quote from Elizabeth Taylor reminding us to never pretend to be ordinary. Burlap in texture.

Tulips, Dove and Pear

TULIPS, DOVE, AND PEAR - 17” X 21” - Acrylic and mixed techniques on wood Note that in each of my floral arrangements, a bird perches; in this case, a dove symbolizing peace.I decided to paint the background of the piece in a vibrant blue to create a contrast that complements the frame of this work. This frame also belonged to my in-laws (the Bunkers) from New Brunswick. For texture, a piece of fabric in memory of my mother-in-law, Diane Bunker.

La Rousse

LA ROUSSE (The Red Head) - 15” X 19” - Acrylic and Mixed Media on WoodAllow me to reintroduce this character I began painting over twenty years ago. I’ve named her Gisèle. This time, I brought her to life again, imagining she would appreciate being displayed within this frame that once belonged to my in-laws, the Bunker family from New Brunswick. As the family wished to part with it, I thought it fitting to honour it with one of my favorite muses. Take note, between the layers of paint are newspaper clippings from 1949, found in the walls of an…
