“CROSSROADS” - 36” X 48” - Acrylique et techniques mixtes sur toile. Cette toile est un cadeau surprise pour un jeune homme de 21 ans venant tout juste d’accomplir quelque chose de très remarquable avec l’obtention de son baccalauréat en finance (avec honneurs) à l’université d’Ottawa. Cette oeuvre est intitulée CROSSROADS pour symboliser les choix importants que nous devons tous prendre à un moment précis de notre vie. Non seulement ce titre représente un album musical préféré mais rappelle aussi une profonde signification spirituelle. À l’intersection de plusieurs chemins, bien choisir et passer à l’action peut faire toute la difference…

POISSON ROUGE

POISSON ROUGE - 60” x 48” I thoroughly enjoyed creating this painting...so many items that remind me of my childhood, such as my mother’s favourite chocolate treat, Cherry Blossom, Labatt beer, my uncles’ preferred beverage (uncles on my father’s side), Orange Crush, the Radio-Canada emblem, etc. I also included a sample of Quebec cartoonist Michel Rabagliati’s work, a photo of a rather sexy woman, Montreal’s former mayor Jean Drapeau and an article dating back to 1970 when Montreal was bidding for the ‘76 Olympic games, the logo of our hockey team, the Canadiens, etc. Texture created with articles from burlap,…

SUPERVACHE

SUPERVACHE - 20” x 20” This is the smallest cow painting I’ve made to date. The cow may be diminutive but she certainly is the coolest. She wears an S on her snout and calls herself Supervache (Supercow). Texture created with articles from La Presse (food section, 2016), a map of the Montreal metro stations, an ad for J&B scotch, swatches from my mother-in-law and plaster.

BRIGITTE

BRIGITTE -  40” X 40” Brigitte Bardot is an actress, a model, a singer and an animal rights activist. For this reason I inserted DOG LOVER in the cow’s right ear. Other items hidden within the painting: bits of this actress’s life, photographs, samples of porno magazines as well as a subscription form for Playboy dating back to the 70s. Texture created with swatches from my mother-in-law, plaster and burlap.

CHEZ-MOI

“CHEZ MOI” – 18” X 24”  Acrylic and mixed media Our roots run deep.  This painting represents the city of Sherbrooke, where I grew up.  So many happy memories came back while I was creating this piece. Within the painting you’ll find a blackbird, the city’s symbolic bird, a tax bill from the school board as well as the emblem of the University of Sherbrooke, my alma mater. Textures created with plaster, La Tribune newspaper 1992 and swatches from my mother-in-law

MON CRAPET-SOLEIL

MON CRAPET-SOLEIL - 30” X 24” When I was a boy my family and I would spend our summers at Lake Magog in the Eatern Townships. I remember that no one liked sunfish because they are edible and they nibble at your toes! But I found them magnificent. They way the sun reflected on their colourful scales made the sunfish flamboyant. Perhaps this painting will allow you to appreciate this fish as well. Textures created with a map of the Montreal metro station, a sketch of Quebec cartoonist Michel Rabagliati, newspaper articles, Batman, plaster and burlap.

WHERE WE’LL END UP

WHERE WE’LL END UP - 20” X 28” Inspired by Mexcian culture, the subject of this painting represents a dance of death (or dance macabre). It tells the story of a young couple who have chosen their final resting place. You’ll notice the latitude and longitude coordinates in the character’s colorful teeth. I also inserted the Mexican flag under the left eye socket. Textures created with Mexican newspaper articles, plaster and burlap.
