I AM FEARLESS – 36” x 48” – Acrylic and Mixed Media on Wood
This painting pays tribute to the superhero that resides within each of you. At some point in life, we all face our fears to overcome a difficult challenge, a major obstacle, or to achieve something that exceeds our expectations.
Within the layers of paint, you will find newspaper clippings from the 1940s, as well as an article from GQ magazine about the superhero Megan Rapinoe. This article recounts her legal battle against the U.S. Soccer Federation to obtain equal pay for male and female players, a fight she won. Rapinoe also made a strong statement by refusing the invitation to the White House after the U.S. women’s soccer team’s victory at the 2019 World Cup.
You will also notice superhero symbols such as Superman, Ironman, and Batman.
I have titled this piece I AM FEARLESS. May it bring a smile to your face every time you look at it and inspire you to conquer your next challenge, whether big or small.
Yours in colours,
SAMSON
