HENRI - 30" X 24"
“FRIDA AND HER CAT” - 60” x 48” Since Frida cherished animals, I included a cat in the composition without altering the coherence of the piece. I chose to perch it comfortably on her head so that the character keeps all her due presence and supremacy. Yours to find: A love letter from Frida to Diego (her life partner), newspaper articles from Mexico, Mexican flag, Burlap in texture, etc.
“GISELE XI” – 20” x 16” – Acrylic and Mixte Media on Canvas. This “pocket-sized” SAMSON is my latest creation. This is the ninth version of a character that I adore painting again and again. However, this time, she is more textured and her face is filled with small brush strokes of various pastel tones. Each time, she fills me with joy; I hope she conveys the same emotion to you. Texture: Plaster
GISÈLE & SAMUEL : 24” X 18” – Acrylic and mixed media on wood. As promised, here’s latest piece in my GISÈLE collection. This time, she is painted in a smaller format. As I enjoy adding items of our heritage, she wears a red rose on which you can discern a rather refined handwriting dating back to the end of The Renaissance (early 1600’s). It belongs to the great explorer Samuel De Champlain. This historical letter to King Henri IV, preceded Champlain’s first sailing on The Saint-Lawrence River. Texture: Plaster and fabrics.
“LE MARIAGE” - 36” X 30” - Acrylic and mixed media on wood. This personalized commission was offered for dear friends as their wedding gift. It was for me, a great honour to paint this piece to commemorate this meaningful event. The bride wears a red dress that matches her hair and also reminds us of the cherry colour (her favourite fruit). On her heart side, we notice the IMAGE DE MARK’s logo, workplace where our lovebirds met. Two maple leaves illustrate the family “sugar shack” and also the life continuation of her mother and brother. The piece of fabric…
“GISELE AVEC ROBE PIANO” (Gisele With Piano Dress) - 48” X 30” - Acrylic and mixed media. Gisele is back with more attitude than ever. This character, that I love painting again and again, was created for Claude Vallee and Isabelle Mercier. Here, with her hand, she motions “come over here” to welcome her guests to the music and entertainment room. Knowing that our SAMSON owners love Billy Joel, we find, in her dress, the lyrics of the song “Piano Man” and the 5th Symphony of Beethoven, a timeless classic. In her right hand, there is an article from Paris, a…
“BARISTA” - 48” X 30” - Acrylic and mixed media. This piece was created for Claude through his wife Isabelle. This character welcomes their guests in their beautiful home to enjoy a flavourful cup of espresso. Claude loves great coffee! In his left ear, we find an image of a hipster BARISTA. In his collar, a burlap coffee sack brought back from my last trip to Puerto Vallarta Mexico. We can also discover articles of “where to find the best coffee in the world” and the definition of BARISTA (meaning barman in Italian). Background: Burlap sack, newspaper articles, map of Montreal…
“FRIDA ET SON CHAT III” – 60” x 48” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas. My third version of “FRIDA ET SON CHAT”, although this time, background painted with all tons of turquoise, cyan and cerulean found in the oceans surrounding Mexico. Between multiple layers of paint, (flower petals), we can discover hand written love letters by Frida to Diego Rivera. On her neck and chest, a coffee burlap sack brought from my last trip to Mexico. Notes: Biography of Frida Kahlo in Spanish, Mexican flags, Mexican coffee burlap sack, writings (calligraphy) of Frida Kahlo, etc
“Que Du Bonheur” – 48” X 36” – Acrylic and other materials on canvas. What a great honour it was to paint Aline Denis-Lessard. This lady symbolized and still echoes the appreciation of each unique and small moment. It is for this reason that I entitled this painting “QUE DU BONHEUR” (Nothing But Happiness). Communicating LOVE with her precious ones was her mission in life. Her family was what she cherished the most in the entire world. Other than her sons' Patrick (Brigitte) and Alain, her favourite son-in-law Sylvain, she treasured her grandchildren Alexandre and Maxime and her great grandchild Rafael. …
