BALTHAZAR – 30” x 40” – Acrylic and mixed media on wood

This creation celebrates a young couple married this past October 25, 2025—a detail you can find tucked away on the left ear of our character, named BALTHAZAR. Between the layers of paint, you will discover numerous elements evoking the personalities and passions of these two lovebirds—some shared, others unique to each.

The couple’s story began in 2018 at the Université de Sherbrooke. The UdS crest, worn proudly over BALTHAZAR’s heart, stands as a testament to that life-changing meeting. Can you find the little turtle, one of Roxanne’s favourite symbols? As for Christopher, his passion for foxes is showcased on his tie—a nod to the accessory he also wore on his wedding day.

Speaking of the tie, you will undoubtedly notice the Gryffindor colours, a tribute to the Boudreault-Robitaille family’s love for the Harry Potter universe. On one of the paws, you’ll also find an iconic quote from the world-famous saga. Christopher’s athletic spirit is also featured: the NIKE logo and the “42.195” mark honour his marathon achievements. Notably, his recent performance in Ottawa qualified him for the prestigious Boston Marathon in April 2026.

On the right collar of BALTHAZAR’s shirt, a label from the Henri Marionnet vineyard in Touraine, France, recalls the couple’s passion for viticulture and their affection for French culture.

Interestingly, the Boudreault–Robitaille clan hails from Warwick, while the Bourques come from the neighbouring town of Victoriaville. On the character’s forehead, a symbolic path connects these two places—a playful wink at the question that always makes the families smile: where does poutine really come from? Warwick or Victoriaville? The mystery remains…

Within the black-and-white checkerboard, a piece of fabric from the dress the bride wore on October 25, 2025, is subtly integrated into the texture. Finally, on the back right paw, a heart-shaped bracelet symbolizes both Roxanne and Christopher’s love and the precious bonds uniting their families—both the Bourque and Boudreault sides.

I wish to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who, near or far, contributed to the realization of this special gift for Roxanne and Christopher. For my part, I feel profoundly honoured to have participated in this celebration of love.

May this canvas bring a smile to your face every time you look at it, and may it remind you to always cultivate that spark. A blend of freedom, curiosity, madness, and openness that will keep love alive, just like the very first day. STAY WILD, as the mother of the bride would say.

Yours in colours,

SAMSON
