The Wine Steward

“LE SOMMELIER” (Wine Steward) – 48” X 36” – Acrylic and mixed media on canvas.

When I have the opportunity of listening to a SOMMELIER describing wines, I immediately embark on an adventure that makes me dream and travel. Hence, I give you the challenge to discover underneath the multiple layers of paint, maps of the regions of CHÂTEAUNEUF DU PAPE and certain parts of Italy as well as images of vines, wine cellars, corks, etc. You will also notice labels of renowned vineyards, an article (in french) of Montreal newspaper LA PRESSE “It’s the cork’s fault”, receipts of our Société Des Alcools Du Québec (SAQ) and a page of the Bescherelle (French Grammar Reference Book) on the conjugation of the verb: to drink. Our muse carries at all times a corkscrew in case he should come across, during his many expeditions, a bottle worthy of being savoured.
