“TE QUIERO” – 30 ”X 40” – Acrylic and mixed media on canvas.

This personalized piece was created for a couple who met almost 30 years ago in Sainte-Foy, in the suburbs of Quebec City.

Several items incorporated in this creation tell a few chapters of their beautiful romance.

Firstly, you find a “C”, on the left side of our character’s chest. This represents several meanings. One of them, coming from Captain of a team of 4 players. Secondly, both parents share surnames that start with the letter “C”. They both lead a winning team at the door number 5288 (see branch), in the heart of the Montreal’s Plateau.

If you look on the branch, you find a golden ring that was given by the parents of the lady when she was a teenager. This same ring was worn in 1992 by the patriarch during a seven-month work trip to the Universal Exhibition in Seville, Spain.

Embedded within the layers of paint, you can discover hand-written love letters that our two lovebirds exchanged at the start of their relationship.

None other than the majestic Chateau Frontenac was the site of their engagement. You also spot a silhouette-photo taken during a trip to Hawaii of their two sons, Thomas and Hugo.

I challenge you to uncover the origins of our two captains.
The mother from Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec and the father in Seville, Spain; here represented by the Bodega Santa Cruz Las Columnas which belonged to his grandfather.

Lastly but not the least, you notice a red rose that our subject holds preciously with its claws. This represents the father’s romantic side as he often surprises the mother by offering her bouquets of flowers without necessarily having to mark birthdays or other specific events. The great reason for this gesture is to say “Te Quiero” to the one that he adores tenderly and deeply. It is for this reason that I entitled this creation: “TE QUIERO ” meaning “I love you” in Spanish.

I would like to thank Claire and Pablo for trusting me in creating this piece that I qualify as very romantic. May this creation make you smile every time you get a glimpse at it and fuels your eternal love.

Thank you,

SAMSON
